Yes, we have Air Conditioning! Many clients ask us at this time of year if we have air conditioning in the kennel - the answer is, of course, "yes!" We actually have multiple large commercial units at both locations to provide redundancy in the event of a breakdown. Parker Pet Care also has a contract for 24-hour service to our heating and cooling equipment to ensure the animals are not impacted by any mechanical problems. Parker Pet Care is aware that some dogs are particularly impacted by heat. Older dogs, dogs with heavy coats, and short-faced dogs can have a hard time shedding heat, particularly on humid days. Outside time is always monitored and adjusted to keep dogs safe and comfortable. Book early for the August long weekend. Most of our regular clients are aware that the summer is a busy time at Parker Pet Care, but many are surprised to learn that the August long weekend is the busiest of the summer. In some years we will actually be full for this weekend. If you are planning to travel over the August Civic Holiday, it would be a good idea to book early to ensure you have a spot for your pet. Don't forget you can now book online at our website. Parting Thoughts"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." ~ Anatole France |
Staff profile: "Bonnie", the office cat at North York.
Almost every client who has visited our North York location in the last 6 months has met "Bonnie", our 3-legged, black and white office cat. Bonnie was rescued by a staff member from the side of the road when she was only about 8 weeks old. Bonnie came to us with serious nerve damage in her front right leg, and this leg had to be amputated when she was about 6 months old. Despite her 25% decrease in leginess, Bonnie is a happy, social and very active little girl. Many clients have been quite enamoured with Bonnie, and several have even offered to take her home! Clients often point out that Bonnie was lucky to find us, but we feel just as lucky to have found her. Seasonal Allergies: Pets get them too.Just like their humans, pets can suffer from seasonal allergies. Dogs tend to be more impacted than cats, and the most common symptoms are skin-related: itchy, flaky, red, irritated, and raw are all words we hear used to describe the effect of allergies on skin. Many dogs will also lick their paws because they're itchy. There are many approaches to managing allergies in pets. Seasonal allergies are usually managed with oral medications, although medicated baths can also provide relief. Your vet can provide assistance if you feel your dog is suffering with allergies. |
